Western Circuit

The rough and remote frontier land of Western Circuit Safari of Tanzania gives an impression of trackless expanses with zero infrastructures in place. This offers thrill, adventure, and a safari experience that seems to be lacking in other parts of Tanzania. Most of the national parks in western circuit are off the beaten path. This helps in maintaining an isolated atmosphere for people visiting the park. The parks in this circuit, namely Gombe Stream National Park and Mahale National Park, are known for their rich concentration of chimpanzees and trekking spots. A Western Circuit Safari tour will be excellent for anyone having keen interest in primates.

Here Are The Three National Parks Located In Western Circuit:

  1. Katavi National Park. This is the third largest park in the country lying on the extreme west side of Tanzania. The park is dominated by golden grasses of Chada and Katasunga floodplains and enclosed by varied woodlands. Katavi is also rich in animal population, mainly consisting of zebras, impalas, waterbucks, hartebeests, and buffalos. With an area of 4,471 sq km, it is the place for safari in western circuit.
  2. Gombe National Park. Gombe National Park is a wilderness paradise for chimps to live and prosper. Reliable living conditions like continuous supply of food and water coupled with less tourist influx make this an ideal breeding ground for them. Lake Tanganyika which is the second largest lake of Africa brushes by the park where 200 different species of birds can be spotted. Involvement of famous conservationist Jane Goodall on the behavioral studies of chimps in Gombe Stream has given this place a special status in primate research space.
  3. Mahale National Park. Located on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, it is another great place with excellent primate population. The forest-covered Mahale Mountains which is situated inside the park hosts variety of endemic plants and serves as a trekking spot for visitors.
